Trauma Psychology – The Israeli Experience
The project is planned to run until the end of 2025.
Starting in November 2022, lecture sessions and seminars were held as part of the project, open to all interested participants.
In February, enrollment began for thematic groups.
Each group completes a total of 8 academic hours, combining both theory and practical approaches to overcoming traumatic experiences.
Groups of 10 to 35 participants are formed based on professional background — including military personnel, volunteers from various fields, medical workers, psychologists, and others.
The project consists of a series of lectures and seminars united by a common goal: to present Ukrainian psychologists and all those interested in the topic with the expertise developed by Israeli specialists in working with trauma.
Participants of the thematic groups receive certificates upon completion.
The project features leading specialists from the Israeli Trauma Coalition, including Alex Gershanov, as well as Svitlana Tarasova, a psychologist from the rehabilitation center in the city of Sderot, along with other experts from the coalition.
So far, the project has already included lectures delivered by Alex Gershanov and Svitlana Tarasova. Three lecture sessions have been conducted, with two more planned for March.
Despite power outages, each Zoom lecture was attended by between 120 and 190 participants.
“Simple, clear, and effective — if you know how to apply it. For Israelis, self-help and supporting others is part of their character. Now we Ukrainians are acquiring new knowledge in trauma therapy. I thank the organizers for the opportunity to gain knowledge in crisis response,” said Roman, one of the project’s lecture participants.
The project continues to grow and expand its activities.
The project is implemented by the Zionist Federation of Ukraine (ZFU) within the framework of the “Circle of Hope” initiative, in cooperation with the JReady platform, the Jewish Agency for Israel (“Sokhnut”), and the Israeli Trauma Coalition.
