Since September 2019, a volunteer press center has been operating at the Faculty of Journalism of the Institute of Philology and Journalism at V. I. Vernadsky Taurida National University. The project brought together 10 first-year journalism students.

The aim of the project was to give aspiring journalists, who are just beginning to master their chosen profession, the opportunity to gain practical skills. These included conducting interviews and gathering comments, transcribing and editing audio recordings, overcoming the hesitation of approaching strangers, professionally structuring news reports, working with headlines, and more.

As trainee correspondents for the websites of the Vaad of Ukraine and Congress of National Communities of Ukraine, participants took part in the Babyn Yar Memorial March, conducted a series of interviews with counselors from the “Sources of Tolerance” and “European” camps, and actively contributed to the preparation and organization of presentations and events. Many of the reports produced by the participants were published in the main news feeds of these web platforms, demonstrating the strong professional level achieved by the young journalism team.

The project was volunteer-based and implemented by the Zionist Federation of Ukraine with technical support from the Institute of Philology and Journalism of V. I. Vernadsky Taurida National University.

The legal foundation for the project was a Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the Zionist Federation of Ukraine and V. I. Vernadsky Taurida National University.
